Several years ago, Washington Academy introduced the COWs (Computers on Wheels) program to begin an ambitious one-to-one initiative to provide every student an opportunity to use a laptop.
What the COWs program does is allow students the access to computer technology that they had to share previously when only a few desktop computers were located in each classroom.
Now a lot of public schools have instituted their own one-to-one initiatives so that students get enough time on computers.
Through the use of the laptops, students are now engaged in computer based activities such as typing, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, simple animation, and desktop publishing.
