Crisis Intervention

From time to time, students may exhibit behaviors that escalate beyond regulated levels of tension. In these cases, all of our teaching staff are trained in de-escalating situations with verbal strategies.

Our staff are also trained to identify when students may be increasing their own anxiety levels to a point where a crisis intervention may be necessary.

If a student poses a threat to harm themselves or others, all of our teaching faculty are certified in Handle With Care (HWC) to address the needs of the student in crisis. HWC teaches a PRT technique, which is used in many facilities across the country, including schools, hospitals and other facilities.

The PRT and HWC are safe and effective techniques to neutralize a situation from escalating and also to prevent the student from hurting themselves and also hurting a staff member.
