Welcome to Washington Academy!
Washington Academy is an approved private school out of district placement in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Washington Academy has been educating students for three decades who have special needs that are not being met by the local school district and who are not succeeding at meeting the specific IEP goals and objectives.
Our school was founded by Dr. Jack Schwartz who over the course of more than 40 years in special education believed that all students deserve a high quality education. Washington Academy therefore is dedicated to providing the best academics along with a strong focus on social and behavioral skills.
Washington Academy is known for its small classes and individualized attention. That is why Washington Academy offers up to three teachers in every classroom, three social workers, two school psychologists, a learning consultant, a reading specialist, speech and language, occupational and physical therapy, and a certified school nurse to meet the special needs of its students.
