(BELLEVILLE, NJ) The teenage unemployment rate is 19.6 percent and 9.1 percent for adults with only a high school diploma according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in August 2014.

Washington Academy's students will be more prepared for the world of work and for post-secondary education because of our brand new high school transition program. Starting in September 2014, all our high school students are enrolled in the Life Ready Program™ which ensures that they are college and career ready.

The Life Ready Program™ includes three high school credit courses, Career Explorations, Finance Lab and Job Laboratory. The program is also fully integrated into our school's Counseling program, led by Ms. Peri.

Graduating students will have a resume, college essays or job applications completed, and a college and career roadmap of interest areas. In addition, students will learn skills to compete at entry level positions in the following areas: marketing, entertainment, office skills, public relations, retail, project management, and business.

Students focused more on college will be fully prepared and trained to organize their coursework, develop time management skills, and create academic work plans to ensure that all assignments are completed and handed in by the syllabus deadlines.
