High School Program

Washington Academy is approved and accredited by the New Jersey Department of Education and offers a full program of courses that are aligned to New Jersey’s Common Core Standards.

All students that enroll at Washington Academy will be given a course schedule each year to meet the rigorous state requirements for earning a state-approved high school diploma in accordance with all the provisions of N.J.S.A. 18A-35.

Attendance is critical in meeting educational goals and making academic progress through the high school curriculum. Please refer to the school’s attendance and grading policy in our Student and Parent Handbook.

Washington Academy Credit Make-Up Program

All High School students at Washington Academy shall have a schedule created to meet their individual course and credit requirements. In some cases, students can potentially earn 5 additional credits to make-up coursework not completed in previous years.

The Extended School Year (ESY) program offers high school students an opportunity to earn a maximum of 12.5 additional credits to make-up coursework not completed in previous years as well.

Currently, the New Jersey Department of Education requires all high school students to complete 120 full credits in order to be eligible for a New Jersey high school diploma. (See Appendix A: High School Credit Guide)
